FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - March 22, 2023

BOISE – Mountain States Policy Center – the region’s top source for free market policy and analysis – announced today the recipients of the organization’s first-ever Elevation Awards.

The Elevation Award is the highest honor of Mountain States Policy Center, given to the individual(s) who are committed to advancing and elevating free market principles and ideas. It is presented to a top innovator, business leader or elected official in Idaho, Montana and Washington.

For Idaho, state Controller Brandon Woolf has been selected for his commitment to transparency and the launching of “Transparent Idaho,” a website that includes local, school district and state data to help better inform Idahoans.

For Washington, Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers will receive the honor. The Congresswoman has been a tireless advocate for free markets during her time in Washington, D.C., and is now the first woman to chair the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee.

For Montana, MSPC will honor Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen, who has led the effort to reduce red tape and complications from opening new businesses. As a result, roughly 53,000 new businesses were registered in Montana in the past 12 months.

"It's an honor and a privilege to be recognized by MSPC for the important work that the Secretary of State's Office has done making it easier for Montanans to do business,” Secretary Jacobsen said. “Montana businesses deserve less government deterrents in their day-to-day operations and reducing/eliminating fees for businesses has been a top priority. I applaud the work being done by MSPC, and I look forward to following its continued success.”

“For us, it has been a team effort to improve accountability and transparency,” added Controller Woolf.

“MSPC is doing great things throughout our region, and I am humbled to be honored alongside my fellow public servants, Brandon and Christi,” commented Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers.

The Elevation Awards will be presented to all three recipients at MSPC’s sold-out Spring Dinner at the Coeur d’Alene Inn on Friday, April 28th at 7:00pm. The event is open to the media, but members of the press are asked to RSVP to info@mountainstatespolicy.org.
