With gas prices hitting a new record, Democratic lawmakers in Idaho have called for a suspension of the state's gas tax. The "gas tax holiday" being proposed by Rep. James Ruchti and Senator David Nelson would cut Idaho's cost of a gallon of gasoline by 32-cents.
“It’s a great way to get money back in pockets of Idahaons who are just they're going to go spend it on the economy. You would think of it as a targeted tax break,” Ruchti told KTVB.
Idaho's gas tax isn't as high as Washington's, at 49.5 cents per gallon. You can see comparisons of Idaho, Washington, Montana and Wyoming here.
