Updated: Dec 19, 2024

Mountain States Policy Center - the region's largest free market research organization - has released the results of The Idaho Poll - the state's most anticipated public opinion survey.

The Idaho Poll is released every other December ahead of the legislative session to provide critical information regarding the state's top policy issues. From tax and budgeting to education freedom, and even energy use, this comprehensive data taken directly from the citizens of the state helps inform our research work and is critical to the debate in the halls of the state capitol this January.

The poll was conducted by RMG Research, Inc., from November 26-December 6, 2024. More than 800 Idaho registered voters participated, with a margin of error of +/- 3.5%. Crosstabs for the polling and the actual questions can be found here. A summary of the poll results is found below. Previous versions of the Idaho Poll are available here.

(Please note: Polling data is available for public use, but credit must be given to "Mountain States Policy Center's Idaho Poll.")

Curious why Congressman Mike Simpson was on the list of representatives for approval or not approval?

Foolish idea,, Removal of dams has it own set of negatives on the environment, commerce and energy prices. All these matters have high cost and long lasting negative impacts as well. If improving the ability of native fish to migrate up and down river is the objective, there are obivious alternatives at a fraction of the cost and impact. I suspect there are other goals at work here. Adapt the river system to include fish migration , absolutely. Blow up damns with all their benefits, simply foolish.

Why would anyone want to breech energy-producing dams??? Note: The Tribes are overfishing the hell out of the salmon, without limits, using nets and other methods banned for the rest of the citizens. and if they just cut back to reasonable levels, we would not have a salmon population issue. So why breech dams????

Re: Breaching the dams poll

Do people know the many issues that will be greatly impacted by doing so?

1 ) dams produce the cheapest, cleanest, most efficient electricity production, most necessary for the increasing needs of the NW. The water keeps flowing when the wind does not blow and the sun does not shine.

2) new dams will never be built again due to permitting and regulation. Idaho river commerce will be greatly limited making transportation of all products to be by rail or roads, making immense expenditures and expansion necessary. And thereby increasing fuel consumption with resulting air pollution. Making it necessary for purchase of many trucks, and drivers, which we already need.

3) salmon fish find new…

Replying to

Apparently, Snake River salmon are too stupid to use fish ladders or bypass canals, nor to avoid the wanton devastation of the salmon population by the unregulated Tribes. Why are we STILL paying reparations to Tribes who are filthy rich from casino operations, pay no taxes, wantonly overfish for profit, not sustenance, and who use their unregulated, untaxed income to buy our politicians and real estate (and take it out of the tax pool) and shift the tax burdens onto us? Isn't it time for Congress to revisit this unfair monopolistic handout?
